Sohaychat adds an AI-powered chat widget to a WordPress site, aimed at site owners who want visitor questions answered from their own content rather than generic AI guesses.
Support articles are written in a built-in Knowledge Base, and the chatbot searches those articles for the best match before replying, so answers stay grounded in what the site actually publishes. On a WooCommerce store, the same chatbot can search the catalog, check live stock and prices, and update the shopper’s cart during the conversation.
The chatbot is powered by an AI model from OpenAI or Google Gemini, chosen under the plugin’s AI Settings screen, and it requires the site owner to supply their own API key for the selected provider, who bills separately for usage.
Knowledge Base indexing and search always run through OpenAI, even if Gemini is chosen to generate the actual chat replies. Conversations, whether answered by the AI or taken over by a staff member, are saved in a Conversations inbox inside the WordPress admin, where a team can read, search, and reply to them.

Key Features of Sohaychat
Knowledge Base Answers
Article-grounded replies. The chatbot searches the articles published in the built-in Knowledge Base and answers from that content instead of inventing details. If no matching article is found, it tells the visitor it does not know rather than guessing.
Public Knowledge Base pages. Articles are organized into categories and made available at a public, searchable Knowledge Base page on the site, which the chatbot can also cite by URL when it uses an article to answer a question.
One-click article sync. After writing articles, a Sync All Articles button indexes them for the chatbot in the background, so new or updated content becomes searchable within a couple of minutes.
WooCommerce Shopping Tools
Catalog search and product detail. On a WooCommerce store, visitors can search and browse the catalog and look at a specific product, including size and colour options, without leaving the chat.
Live stock, pricing, and policies. The chatbot reads current stock and prices directly from the store and answers shipping, returns, and refund questions from the store’s own policy pages and tagged Knowledge Base articles.
In-chat cart management. Shoppers can add, change, or remove items in their cart from within the conversation, and every change comes with an Undo button. These tools stay hidden entirely on sites without WooCommerce.
Order status for signed-in customers. Signed-in customers can ask about their own recent orders and get status, date, total, and contents, with the chatbot limited to that account’s own orders.
Team and Conversation Management
Built-in conversation inbox. Every chat is saved under Sohaychat, Conversations, where staff can read, search, filter by status, assign chats to teammates, pin, close, and reply.
Human handoff. When switched on, a visitor or the assistant can bring in a team member, who can take over a conversation while the AI pauses; handing it back lets the assistant resume with full context.
Quick replies. Staff can save reusable answers and insert them into a reply from the composer, speeding up responses to common questions.
Setup and Cost Controls
Configurable visitor details. Site owners decide whether visitors must sign in, provide a name and email, or share nothing before reaching a human, with an optional marketing opt-in written by the site owner.
Spend protection. A daily token cap can be set so the plugin stops calling the AI provider once the limit is reached, keeping usage costs predictable, with a Diagnostics screen showing today’s usage.
How to Install Sohaychat
Step 1: Install and activate. In the WordPress dashboard, go to Plugins > Add New Plugin, search for Sohaychat, then click Install Now followed by Activate.
Step 2: Connect an AI provider. Go to Sohaychat > AI Settings, choose OpenAI or Google Gemini, paste that provider’s API key into the field, and click Save.
Step 3: Configure the model and limits. While on AI Settings, pick a model, set a daily token cap under Spend protection, and optionally write a welcome message for the chat widget.
Step 4: Add Knowledge Base articles. Create at least one article under KB Articles > Add New so the chatbot has content to draw answers from.
Step 5: Sync the articles. Go to Sohaychat > KB Settings > Dashboard and click Sync All Articles; the sync runs in the background and articles become searchable within a few minutes.
Step 6: Test the widget. Visit the site’s front end, open the chat launcher in the bottom corner, and try a question the Knowledge Base can answer.
Good to Know About Sohaychat
According to the plugin’s documentation, Sohaychat requires an account and API key with OpenAI or Google Gemini, since it has no model of its own to call; Knowledge Base search always relies on an OpenAI key regardless of which provider generates chat replies.
The developer notes that conversations are stored in the site’s own database, with signed-in visitors’ chats covered by WordPress’s built-in personal-data export and erase tools, and guest conversations removable manually from the Conversations inbox. Uninstalling the plugin removes its database tables and settings but leaves Knowledge Base articles in place as regular WordPress content. The plugin also works on WordPress Multisite, with each site keeping separate conversations, settings, and Knowledge Base content.
