This Privacy Policy explains what personal data getfreeplugins.com (the “Site”) collects when you visit it, why, and what rights you have. The Site is a free directory of reviews of WordPress plugins published on the official WordPress.org repository. You can browse it without creating an account.
1. Who is responsible for your data
The Site is operated by Micro Entreprise 820557254, 200 RUE de la Croix Nivert 75015 Paris FRANCE (“we”, “us”). We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.
For any privacy question or request, contact us at whatsup@getfreeplugins.com.
2. Data we collect
2.1 Technical data from your visit
Like any website, our server automatically records basic technical information when you load a page: your IP address, browser type and version, operating system, the page requested, the referring page, and the date and time of the request. These server logs are used only to keep the Site secure, detect abuse and fix technical problems. They are kept for a maximum of 30 days, then deleted.
2.2 Chat assistant conversations
The Site may offer an AI chat assistant to help you find plugins. If you use it, the messages you type and the assistant’s replies are stored so that we can understand what visitors are looking for and improve the directory. Please do not share sensitive personal information in the chat.
To generate replies, your messages are sent to a third-party AI provider, which processes them on our behalf. Conversation logs are kept for up to 12 months, then deleted or anonymized.
2.3 Emails you send us
If you contact us by email, we keep your email address and the content of your message for as long as needed to answer you and handle any follow-up.
2.4 Data we do not collect
The Site has no user accounts, no newsletter, no advertising and no paid offers. We do not sell, rent or trade your personal data.
3. Why we use your data (legal basis)
Where the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or a similar law applies, we rely on the following legal bases:
- Legitimate interest for server logs (security and proper operation of the Site) and for analyzing chat assistant conversations (improving the directory).
- Your request when you contact us and we reply.
- Legal obligation where we must keep or disclose data to comply with the law.
4. Cookies
The Site only uses cookies that are strictly necessary for it to work, such as cookies that remember a technical setting or keep the chat assistant session open during your visit. These cookies do not track you across other websites and do not require your consent.
We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. If we ever add audience measurement or other non-essential cookies, we will update this policy and ask for your consent where the law requires it.
You can block or delete cookies at any time in your browser settings; some features, such as the chat assistant, may then stop working correctly.
5. Who receives your data
We only share personal data with service providers that help us run the Site, under contracts that require them to protect it:
- Hosting: [[HOSTING PROVIDER]], which stores the Site and its server logs.
- AI provider: the provider powering the chat assistant, which processes chat messages to generate replies.
We may also disclose data if required by law or by a valid request from a public authority.
6. International transfers
Some of our service providers may process data outside your country, including outside the European Economic Area. When that happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision.
7. Links to other websites
Our plugin reviews link to WordPress.org and to plugin developers’ websites. Once you leave the Site, this policy no longer applies. Please read the privacy policy of each website you visit.
Plugin information on the Site comes from the public WordPress.org repository. We have no control over how plugin developers or WordPress.org handle your data, including when you download or install a plugin.
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), restricted access to the server and regular software updates. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, however.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- have inaccurate data corrected;
- have your data deleted;
- restrict or object to our processing of your data;
- receive your data in a portable format.
To exercise any of these rights, email whatsup@getfreeplugins.com. We will reply within one month. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can file a complaint with your local data protection authority (in the EU, the authority of your country of residence).
10. Children
The Site is intended for WordPress users and professionals. It is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the Site or the law changes. The date at the top of the page shows when it was last revised. Significant changes will be highlighted on this page.
