Rudwexa – AutoFixer is a diagnostic and repair tool for WordPress site owners who want to catch technical problems before visitors or search engines do.

Running a scan checks for PHP errors, deprecated functions, plugin conflicts, broken shortcodes, database issues, missing files, REST API reachability, cron health, slow-query indicators, broken links, and security misconfigurations, then presents each finding in plain language with an option to preview and apply a fix, or to roll it back afterward.

For findings that are genuinely safe to automate, the plugin can apply the fix directly; for judgment calls, such as corrupted database tables or deciding which of many active plugins to remove, it explains what the issue is and what a site owner should look into rather than guessing. An optional Ask AI feature adds a plain-language explanation and suggested fix generated by a language model.

This works through WordPress core’s own AI Client, meaning a provider such as Anthropic, OpenAI, or Google Gemini is connected once under Settings > Connectors, typically via that vendor’s official AI Provider plugin; Rudwexa never sees or stores the API key itself, and requests are sent only when an AI action is clicked.

Key Features of Rudwexa

Wide-ranging site scan. A single scan checks PHP error logs, deprecated function usage in the active theme and plugins, known plugin conflicts, database issues, missing theme or plugin files, REST API reachability, cron health, and security configuration items like the file editor and XML-RPC exposure.

Plain-language explanations. Every issue found comes with an explanation in everyday language, so site owners do not need to interpret raw error logs or technical jargon to understand what went wrong.

Preview, fix, and roll back. Where a fix is safe to automate, the plugin offers a preview of the change, a one-click automatic fix, and a rollback option that restores exactly what existed before, using a snapshot taken prior to any change.

Snapshot-based safety model. Before touching any file, database row, or option, the plugin writes a snapshot to a dedicated backup store, so every automated fix can be undone precisely rather than partially.

Real visitor JavaScript error tracking. An optional front-end script reports actual JavaScript errors experienced by site visitors, including the error message and page and script URLs, back to the site’s own REST API rather than relying on guesswork, and this data stays on the site’s own database.

Ask AI explanations. When a provider is connected through WordPress’s AI Client, clicking Ask AI sends the issue text, or a small code snippet for certain checks, to generate a plain-language explanation and suggested fix; without a connected provider this feature is simply unavailable, and everything else in the plugin works the same.

How to Install Rudwexa

Step 1: Install the plugin. In the WordPress dashboard, go to Plugins > Add New Plugin, search for Rudwexa AutoFixer, click Install Now, then Activate.

Step 2: Run a scan. Open the Rudwexa menu and click Scan Website to check for PHP errors, plugin conflicts, database issues, security misconfigurations, and more.

Step 3: Review the findings. Read the plain-language explanation for each issue and use Preview Fix to see what an automatic fix would change before applying it.

Step 4: Apply or roll back fixes. Click Fix Automatically for issues marked safe to automate, or use Rollback afterward to restore the exact snapshot taken before the change.

Step 5: Connect an AI provider (optional). To use Ask AI explanations, connect a provider such as Anthropic, OpenAI, or Google Gemini under Settings > Connectors, typically by installing that vendor’s official AI Provider plugin.

Step 6: Adjust privacy settings. Visit Rudwexa > Privacy settings to turn off the front-end JavaScript error reporting script if it is not wanted.

Good to Know About Rudwexa

According to the plugin’s FAQ, Rudwexa does not modify wp-config.php directly; reversible security settings such as disabling the file editor or XML-RPC are applied through a separately installed mu-plugins loader that reads a database toggle instead.

The documentation also notes where backups are kept: file snapshots are stored in a blocked, non-web-accessible backups folder inside wp-content, while database row and option snapshots are kept in a dedicated backups table, supporting the rollback feature described elsewhere on this page.
