Codiecool Site Assistant places a floating chat agent inside the WordPress admin area, letting site owners ask questions about their installation, get guidance on settings, or request changes without leaving the current screen.
It suits anyone managing a WordPress site who wants quick answers about plugins, themes, content, users, or comments, plus a way to propose edits that still require manual approval before anything changes.
The chat runs on WordPress Connectors and the Core AI Client introduced in WordPress, so the assistant itself does not lock you into one AI vendor.
You connect a provider such as Google Gemini, OpenAI, or Anthropic by adding that provider’s API key under Settings, with Gemini offering a free tier as a starting point. Conversations and results appear directly in the floating Pilot chat window, which is available as a fullscreen workspace with history across every wp-admin screen.

Key Features of Codiecool Site Assistant
Floating chat across wp-admin. A Pilot button opens a chat window on any admin screen, with a fullscreen workspace option and conversation history so you can pick up earlier discussions.
Multiple AI providers. The assistant works through registered AI Connectors, letting you start with a free Google Gemini key or connect OpenAI, Anthropic, or other supported providers. A smart auto-routing option chooses a model automatically, or you can pick a specific chat model yourself.
Site-aware tools. The agent can look into areas such as plugins, themes, posts and pages, users, and comments to answer questions with actual details from your installation rather than generic advice.
Media Library file reading. Chat can read documents already in your Media Library, including PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OpenDocument, RTF, and plain text formats, and it can interpret images through vision support.
Confirmed write actions. When you ask for a change such as a draft, an install, or a settings update, the assistant proposes it in chat and waits for you to confirm before anything is applied.
Approvals, audit log, and voice input. Restricted user roles can be routed through an approvals queue, changes are recorded in an audit log with an undo window where supported, and you can speak requests using voice input over an HTTPS connection.

Good to Know About Codiecool Site Assistant
According to the plugin’s documentation, Site Assistant requires WordPress with its built-in AI Client, Abilities, and Connectors APIs, along with a PHP version that supports these features. It can run entirely on a free Google Gemini API key, and other providers are optional. The developer notes that write actions always require manual confirmation in chat, and restricted user roles may need separate approval.
Voice input depends on the browser’s speech recognition feature, which only works over HTTPS or localhost. WooCommerce-specific tools appear only when WooCommerce is active, and the plugin works normally without it. Developer tools such as an MCP server and client are listed as not yet available in this release.
