Wearlook

Updated 3 min read

Wearlook adds a virtual fitting room to a WordPress site so visitors can see how a garment looks on themselves before buying.

A shopper uploads a photo, and the plugin scales and positions the clothing item to match their shoulders, working directly on WooCommerce product pages or on any page or post through a shortcode. It suits online boutiques, designers, lookbooks and any site that displays clothing.

The core fitting room runs entirely in the visitor’s browser using a bundled pose-detection model, so no photo is sent anywhere and no AI provider account is required for this part.

Site owners who want a photorealistic render instead of the movable overlay can optionally connect an AI engine such as Google Gemini, Fashn, or Fal, each requiring an API key from that provider, or point the plugin at a separate cloud service; without one of these configured, the plugin makes no external calls at all. Results appear directly in the try-on window on the product or page where the shortcode or button is placed.

Key Features of Wearlook

Browser-based fitting room. Visitors upload a photo and see a garment fitted to their own shoulders, without creating an account or leaving the page. The photo stays in the browser and is never uploaded anywhere during this process.

Automatic garment placement. Wearlook measures the visitor’s shoulder line and scales the garment to fit, cutting it away from any model in the original product photo first. Visitors can still drag, resize and rotate the garment, and an Auto-fit button restores the measured placement at any time.

Works on any WordPress site. The [wearlook] shortcode adds the fitting room to any page or post using its featured image, or a specific media-library image can be targeted by ID. Several images can be listed together so visitors can choose among them.

Automatic WooCommerce integration. On WooCommerce product pages with a featured image, the try-on button appears without extra setup. Individual products can be excluded using a disable checkbox in the product data settings.

Choose which image to try on. For products with multiple photos, a thumbnail strip lets shoppers pick the featured image, gallery photos, or variation images for different colorways. Switching between images keeps the uploaded photo and the fit already adjusted, so comparing colors takes one tap.

Download the finished look. Once a visitor is happy with the placement, they can save the composed image of themselves wearing the garment directly from the browser.

Bring your own AI engine. Site owners who want a photorealistic render can connect Google Gemini, Fashn, or Fal with their own API key, or use a separate cloud service, from the settings page. Fal offers a choice of several try-on models to balance cost and quality; leaving the engine set to None keeps the fitting room fully free with no external requests.

Visitor rate limiting for AI renders. When an AI engine is configured, a per-visitor hourly limit on renders can be set to control how much usage a single visitor can trigger against the connected provider account.

How to Install Wearlook

Step 1: Install and activate. In the WordPress dashboard, go to Plugins > Add New Plugin, search for Wearlook, then click Install Now followed by Activate.

Step 2: Check WooCommerce product pages. If WooCommerce is active, the try-on button appears automatically on product pages that have a featured image.

Step 3: Add the fitting room elsewhere. On any other page or post, insert the [wearlook] shortcode to use the featured image, or specify [wearlook image=”123″] to target a particular media-library image.

Step 4: Disable on specific products. Open a product’s Product data > Advanced tab and tick the disable virtual try-on checkbox if that item should not offer the feature.

Step 5: Connect an AI engine (optional). Go to Settings > Virtual Try-On, choose an AI engine such as Google Gemini, Fashn, or Fal, and enter the API key from that provider to enable photorealistic renders.

Good to Know About Wearlook

According to the plugin’s documentation, the standard fitting room requires no account and sends no visitor data anywhere, since garment placement and photo handling run entirely in the browser.

The developer notes that photorealistic renders are optional and only triggered after a visitor gives explicit consent, with the uploaded photo and garment sent to whichever provider the site owner has configured and processed rather than stored.

Providers such as Google Gemini, Fashn, and Fal bill the site owner’s own account for these renders and may charge for the usage. The documentation also mentions that AI agent access through the WordPress Abilities API only becomes active if a separate MCP adapter plugin is installed, and otherwise has no effect on the site.
