CatalogFrame Image Studio

Updated 3 min read

CatalogFrame Image Studio helps merchants and site owners turn product CSV files into generated catalog imagery directly inside WordPress admin. Instead of manually sourcing or shooting product photos, users import a CSV containing SKUs, product names, and image prompts, then let an AI provider generate matching images.

It is built with WooCommerce stores in mind but also works for anyone who wants to batch-generate images from structured product data.

The plugin does not run its own AI models. It relies on the AI Client built into WordPress core, which routes each image request to whichever image-capable AI provider the site owner has separately installed and configured under Settings > Connectors, such as the official OpenAI or Google Gemini and Imagen provider plugins.

CatalogFrame itself does not access or store provider credentials; once an image is generated, it is saved into the WordPress Media Library, and can optionally be attached to a matching WooCommerce product gallery by SKU.

Key Features of CatalogFrame Image Studio

CSV-based bulk image generation. Import a CSV file containing SKU, product name, and image prompt columns to queue up image generation for an entire product catalog at once. The plugin validates the file before generation begins.

Custom GPT helper for CSV prep. An optional link to a custom GPT hosted on ChatGPT helps convert a WooCommerce product export into a properly formatted mockup CSV. Data is only sent to ChatGPT if the user manually follows the link and uploads or enters information themselves.

Brand logo reference. Site owners can select an existing logo from the Media Library or upload one from their device to use as a brand reference for every image generated in a batch. The plugin identifies this logo to the AI provider so it can be incorporated into the output.

Provider-neutral image generation. CatalogFrame works with whichever image-capable AI provider is connected through the WordPress AI Client, rather than tying the site to one service. This lets a site owner choose between providers such as OpenAI or Google Gemini and Imagen depending on what is already configured.

Automatic Media Library storage. Every generated image is saved directly into the WordPress Media Library, giving site owners a permanent, searchable copy of each catalog image without extra export steps.

WooCommerce gallery matching. When WooCommerce is active, generated images can optionally be appended to the matching product’s gallery by SKU. Existing product images are never overwritten, so current listings stay intact while new imagery is added alongside them.

How to Install CatalogFrame Image Studio

Step 1: Install and activate. In the WordPress dashboard, go to Plugins > Add New Plugin, search for CatalogFrame Image Studio, click Install Now, then Activate.

Step 2: Open the CatalogFrame screen. Go to Products > CatalogFrame Images if WooCommerce is active, or find CatalogFrame in the admin menu if it is not.

Step 3: Connect an AI provider. Visit Settings > Connectors and install, activate, and configure a provider plugin that supports image generation, such as the official Google or OpenAI provider plugins.

Step 4: Refresh the connection. Return to CatalogFrame Settings and refresh the connection status so the plugin recognizes the configured provider.

Step 5: Import and validate a CSV. Upload a CSV file with SKU, product name, and image prompt columns, and let the plugin validate it before proceeding.

Step 6: Add a logo and generate. Optionally choose or upload a brand logo to use as a reference, then start the image generation job.

Good to Know About CatalogFrame Image Studio

The developer notes that CatalogFrame does not require WooCommerce to function, since generated images can be saved to the Media Library on their own; automatic gallery matching by SKU only works when WooCommerce product data is available.

The plugin never replaces existing product images, only appending new ones when auto-mapping is enabled. Provider credentials are handled entirely through WordPress’s own Settings > Connectors system, and CatalogFrame does not collect, store, or return any API keys itself.
