FormScout AI is a lead scoring plugin for site owners who collect inquiries through Contact Form 7, Gravity Forms, or WPForms and want to know which submissions deserve immediate attention.
Every form entry is automatically classified as HOT, WARM, COLD, or SPAM based on signals like budget mentions, urgency language, and message quality, letting staff focus on the leads most likely to convert instead of reading every submission in order.
The classification can run through Google Gemini or OpenAI’s GPT models, or through a built-in rule-based keyword engine that needs no API key and works entirely offline.
Using an AI provider requires entering an API key for that service in the plugin settings, and submission data such as name, email, phone, company, budget, and message is sent to that provider’s API only after it has been explicitly enabled. Results appear directly in the WordPress dashboard, both as tags added to email notification subjects and inside a dedicated lead logs screen.

Key Features of FormScout AI
Automatic lead classification. Every form submission is scored and labeled HOT, WARM, COLD, or SPAM as soon as it arrives, giving an instant read on how promising each inquiry is.
Smart field detection. The plugin locates name, email, phone, company, and budget fields no matter how a form labels them, and folds extra custom fields into the analysis so no useful detail is missed.
Tagged email notifications. Form notification emails get a prefix such as a HOT or WARM label added to the subject line, so the lead’s priority is visible before the message is even opened.
Lead logs dashboard. A dedicated screen lists every scored lead along with its score, confidence, reasoning, detected signals, and a message preview, and can be filtered by score, form source, or date range.
Configurable integrations and fallback. Site owners choose which supported form plugins to connect from the settings page, and if an AI request fails or times out, scoring silently falls back to the keyword engine so submissions are never blocked.
Privacy-conscious data handling. No submission data leaves the site unless an AI provider is deliberately configured and enabled, and stored lead records are visible only to administrators and removed when the plugin is uninstalled.
How to Install FormScout AI
Step 1: Install the plugin. From the WordPress dashboard, go to Plugins > Add New Plugin, search for FormScout AI, then click Install Now.
Step 2: Activate FormScout AI. Once installed, click Activate to turn the plugin on for your site.
Step 3: Configure scoring settings. Go to Lead Scorer > Settings to enable the plugin, choose which form plugins to integrate with, and select a scoring engine among Gemini, OpenAI, or the keyword-only option.
Step 4: Add an API key if needed. If you selected Gemini or OpenAI, enter the corresponding API key in the settings so the plugin can send submissions for classification.
Step 5: Test with a form submission. Submit a test entry through one of your connected forms to confirm that scoring is working as expected.
Step 6: Review scored leads. Open Lead Scorer > Lead Logs to view, filter, and manage all scored submissions.
Good to Know About FormScout AI
The plugin requires at least one supported form plugin installed alongside it, namely Contact Form 7, Gravity Forms, or WPForms, including its Lite edition. According to the plugin’s documentation, choosing the keyword-based scoring engine avoids any API key requirement and keeps processing local to the site.
The developer notes that AI requests use a short timeout, so a failed or slow response falls back to rule-based scoring without blocking form submissions. Lead data, including name, email, phone, message, and score, is stored in a custom database table accessible only to administrators, and individual entries can be deleted from the Lead Logs page; all stored data is removed when the plugin is uninstalled.
