When a visitor submits a form you have enabled, the plugin sends the submitted text to an AI provider of your choice: OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, or OpenRouter. You supply your own API key for that provider, after which the plugin’s Model field fills with a live list of models to pick from.
The AI’s summary, suggested reply, category, priority, and confidence score then appear in a new AI Inbox screen inside WordPress, where you review, edit, and decide whether to send.

How to Install Olmbox AI Inbox for Contact Form 7
Step 1: Install Contact Form 7. Make sure Contact Form 7 is installed and activated first, since Olmbox works alongside it.
Step 2: Install Olmbox. In your dashboard go to Plugins > Add New Plugin, search for Olmbox AI Inbox for Contact Form 7, then click Install Now followed by Activate.
Step 3: Connect an AI provider. Go to Contact > Olmbox > Settings, open the AI Provider tab, choose a provider, enter your API key, select a model from the dropdown, and run the connection test.
Step 4: Enable it for your forms. On the General tab, turn Olmbox on and select which form or forms it should apply to.
Step 5: Adjust the prompt if needed. Optionally edit the base system prompt on the Prompt tab to influence how the AI drafts summaries and replies.
Step 6: Start reviewing submissions. Open the AI Inbox section whenever a new submission arrives to read the summary, edit the suggested reply, and send it once you approve.
Good to Know About Olmbox AI Inbox for Contact Form 7
The developer notes that the plugin never sends AI-generated replies automatically; visitor messages are only emailed once someone clicks Send Reply and confirms. It works only through Contact Form 7’s public hooks and does not modify Contact Form 7’s core files or outgoing mail.
If an AI request fails, Contact Form 7’s normal notification email still goes out and the submission still appears in the inbox for a manual reply, just without an AI summary. The API key is stored encrypted in the WordPress options table and is never exposed on the front end or through the REST API.
