Inbox AI adds an AI-powered management layer on top of Contact Form 7, turning a stream of scattered email notifications into a single searchable inbox. It is built for small businesses, agencies, and support or sales teams who use Contact Form 7 and want to triage submissions by priority and category instead of reading through every message one by one.
Each new submission is sent to an AI provider chosen by the site owner, either OpenAI, Anthropic’s Claude, or Google Gemini, using an API key supplied by the administrator.
The provider returns a plain-language summary, a suggested category and priority with a confidence score, a suggested mood reading, and a draft reply, all of which appear in the AI Inbox screen inside WordPress for review before anything is sent. Analysis runs in the background through WP-Cron, so visitors submitting a form never experience a delay.

Key Features of Inbox AI
AI Analysis
Automatic summaries and triage. Every submission to a monitored form is read by the connected AI provider and returned with a summary, a suggested category, a priority level, and a confidence score, so staff can see what a message needs without opening it.
Draft replies for review. Inbox AI prepares a reply suggestion for each submission that a team member can edit and send manually. Nothing is ever sent to a visitor automatically.
Inbound reply threading. When a customer replies to an emailed response from any email platform, Inbox AI picks up the message, threads it into the original conversation, and re-analyzes the exchange to produce a fresh follow-up draft.
Customer mood tracking. Each message in a conversation is read for tone, positive, neutral, frustrated, or angry, with a short explanation shown on the submission detail screen so a dissatisfied customer is easier to spot.
Retry on failed analysis. If AI analysis fails for a submission, the plugin shows a clear failure state and allows a one-click retry instead of leaving the entry unprocessed.
Inbox and Contact Management
Unified searchable inbox. Submissions from monitored Contact Form 7 forms land in one inbox that can be searched and filtered by form, status, priority, category, confidence, and date.
Submission detail and activity timeline. A per-submission screen shows the full AI analysis alongside a timeline of actions taken, giving each entry a structure closer to a support ticket than a plain message.
Automatic contact grouping. Senders are grouped into a contacts view built from existing submissions, with its own search and filters plus one-click access to every message from that person.
Unread and reply indicators. New submissions and fresh replies are visually flagged in the list with distinct markers, and a count badge on the AI Inbox menu clears automatically once a submission is opened.
Notifications, Export, and Setup
Email and Slack alerts. The plugin can notify a team by email or Slack when a new or urgent submission arrives, and sends an alert with a preview when a customer reply comes in.
CSV export. The current filtered view in either the inbox or the contacts page can be exported to CSV for reporting or backup.
Flamingo import. A guided wizard or a CSV upload path brings existing Flamingo submissions into Inbox AI, so switching tools does not mean losing submission history.
How to Install Inbox AI
Step 1: Install Contact Form 7. Inbox AI works as an add-on to Contact Form 7, so make sure Contact Form 7 is installed and activated first.
Step 2: Add Inbox AI. In the dashboard, go to Plugins > Add New Plugin, search for Inbox AI, then click Install Now followed by Activate.
Step 3: Connect an AI provider. Go to Contact > Settings and connect OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google Gemini using an API key from that provider.
Step 4: Choose monitored forms. In the same settings area, select which Contact Form 7 forms should be monitored so their submissions get AI analysis.
Step 5: Review the inbox. Open Contact > AI Inbox to watch submissions arrive, get summarized and prioritized, and prepare draft replies for review before sending.
Good to Know About Inbox AI
According to the plugin’s documentation, Contact Form 7 is a required dependency, since Inbox AI only reads submissions through its public hooks and never alters its core files or mail handling. Submissions are stored locally in the site’s own WordPress database rather than with a third party, and API keys are encrypted and shown only in masked form after saving.
The developer notes that custom capabilities let administrators grant narrower access, such as reply or export permissions, without giving full admin rights. Data is only sent to the chosen AI provider once that provider is connected and at least one form is set to monitored, and any usage costs are billed directly by the provider rather than by the plugin.
