SEO Magic is a free AI-assisted SEO tool built for small websites, freelancers, creators and store owners who want help writing metadata, image text and on-page content without leaving WordPress.
It focuses on filling in the SEO work that often gets skipped, such as missing meta descriptions or empty image alt text, and presents suggestions for the site owner to accept, edit or discard.
The AI generation is powered by Google Gemini, and site owners connect their own Gemini API key to use it, since the plugin does not include or resell access to the model.
Suggestions appear directly inside WordPress screens, such as a metadata table, the Media Library, or a dedicated content editing workspace, where the generated text can be reviewed and adjusted before anything is saved. Google manages its own usage tiers and limits for the Gemini API, separately from the plugin itself.
Rather than making automatic edits, SEO Magic is built around a manual review step: nothing is published until the site owner approves it, and an optional Autopilot mode only runs for the content types and fields explicitly selected.

Key Features of SEO Magic
SEO coverage overview. A paginated table lists posts, pages, products, taxonomies and author archives so site owners can quickly spot which items are missing SEO titles or meta descriptions.
Metadata generation and editing. SEO Magic generates or regenerates SEO titles, meta descriptions, and Facebook and Twitter social metadata, with every field left open for manual editing before it is saved.
Image metadata for the Media Library. It finds images missing titles, alt text, captions or descriptions and can generate all four fields from one action, or produce a single field when only one change is needed. Regeneration uses the existing text as context to produce a genuinely different alternative.
Content assistant workspace. A focused editor loads an existing post or page to help improve structure, readability, headings and introductions, alongside desktop and mobile search snippet previews, without switching between separate screens.
Optional background automation. Autopilot can fill selected missing metadata and image fields on a schedule using WordPress Cron, but only for the content types and fields the site owner chooses to enable, and it leaves existing values untouched unless regeneration is requested.
Manual or bulk workflows. Site owners can work on one item at a time for precision, or run bulk requests that process sequentially, which reduces the load placed on hosting resources during larger jobs.
Compatibility with existing SEO plugins. SEO Magic can write supported fields for Yoast SEO, Rank Math or All in One SEO based on the provider selected in settings, and it warns instead of guessing if more than one SEO plugin is active.
How to Install SEO Magic
Step 1: Install and activate. In the WordPress dashboard, go to Plugins > Add New Plugin, search for SEO Magic, then click Install Now followed by Activate.
Step 2: Add a Gemini API key. Open SEO Magic > Settings and enter a Google Gemini API key so the plugin can generate AI suggestions.
Step 3: Choose an SEO provider. If Yoast SEO, Rank Math or All in One SEO is active, select which one SEO Magic should write metadata for.
Step 4: Explore the main tools. Open Metadata SEO, Multimedia SEO or Content Assistant to see which posts, pages or images still need SEO work.
Step 5: Generate and review a suggestion. Pick one incomplete item, generate a suggestion, edit it if needed, and save only the version approved for publishing.
Good to Know About SEO Magic
According to the plugin’s FAQ, all Free features work without any additional license, but generating AI suggestions still requires a personal Google Gemini API key, since usage tiers and limits for Gemini are set by Google rather than the plugin.
The developer notes that SEO Magic never overwrites content automatically: manual suggestions stay editable until saved, and Autopilot only runs once configured. Deactivating or updating the plugin preserves existing settings and generated metadata, and cleanup only happens during uninstall if the site owner opts into it.
Image analysis sends image data and related WordPress context through the plugin’s proxy to Gemini, though passwords and database credentials are never included.
