TalkWidget adds an AI-powered chat assistant to a WordPress site, aimed at business owners who want to answer visitor questions automatically and capture leads without hiring live chat staff.
Beyond the chat box, it also works on making a site readable to AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity, so that these tools can find and recommend the business when people ask them for suggestions.
The chat and visibility features are powered by TalkWidget’s own hosted service, which the plugin connects to using an Agent Key from a TalkWidget account.
Visitor messages and any lead details submitted through the widget are sent to that service to generate replies and make leads available in the TalkWidget dashboard, while the widget itself, the structured data it publishes, and the site’s automatically generated business summary all pull from the same FAQ and business profile kept in that dashboard.

Key Features of TalkWidget
Automatic FAQ-based answers. The chat widget answers visitor questions on its own, drawing on the FAQ content set up in the TalkWidget dashboard, so common questions get handled without staff involvement.
Lead capture on unanswered questions. When the assistant cannot answer a question, it asks the visitor for their name, email and phone number, so inquiries turn into leads instead of being lost.
Automatic language detection. The widget detects the language a visitor is writing in and replies in that same language, making it usable for visitors from different regions without extra setup.
Brand-matched, low-maintenance widget. The widget’s color can be matched to the site’s branding, and once configured it runs on every page automatically with no further setup needed.
Structured data for FAQ and business info. TalkWidget publishes the FAQ and business profile, including contact details, address and social profiles, as machine-readable structured data on every page, making the content easier for search engines and AI crawlers to read.
Automatic llms.txt file. The site automatically serves a machine-readable business summary at a dedicated llms.txt address, refreshed regularly, following an emerging convention that helps AI assistants describe and recommend the business accurately.

Good to Know About TalkWidget
According to the plugin’s FAQ, a free TalkWidget account is required, since the widget and AI visibility features depend entirely on the hosted TalkWidget service and won’t work without a connected Agent Key. The developer notes that the widget loads asynchronously, so it does not slow down page rendering.
On data handling, the FAQ states that conversations are encrypted in transit and that the service only responds to domains explicitly authorized by the site owner, with visitor chat messages and lead details sent to TalkWidget only when a visitor actively uses the widget.
