Social Publisher by Calliope

Updated 3 min read

Social Publisher by Calliope is built for WordPress administrators who want to share site content across several social networks without leaving the dashboard.

It lets you write a post once, pick which connected networks should receive it, prepare an image, and publish to all of them in a single run, which suits site owners managing multiple social accounts for a blog, business, or WooCommerce store.

The plugin includes an optional AI composer powered by Google Gemini. Site owners connect their own Gemini API key in Settings, and generation only runs when an administrator clicks a button to create a title, caption, hashtags, or a full post, optionally using existing WordPress posts, pages, or WooCommerce products as context.

Results appear directly in the Publisher screen for review before anything goes out, and the plugin can still connect networks, publish, and log activity without a Gemini key being set at all.

Key Features of Social Publisher by Calliope

Multi-network publishing. From the Publisher tab, you can select several connected destinations and publish the same post to all of them in one action. Social Publisher records a separate result for each network, so if one provider fails the others still complete and show their own outcome.

Ten free network connections. Social Publisher connects to Bluesky, Mastodon, Tumblr, Pinterest, Threads, Instagram, LinkedIn personal profiles, Blogger, Telegram, and Facebook Pages. Each network is set up and authorized from its own dedicated connection panel.

Gemini AI composer. An optional AI composer can generate a title, post content, hashtags, or a complete post using Google Gemini. You can add a private prompt for the current post and pull in WordPress content as factual context, and you choose the Gemini model and default language in Settings.

Clean publisher screen. The Publisher tab brings together title, content, link, hashtags, image, alt text, and destination selection in one place. This keeps the process of assembling a post for several networks straightforward before you hit publish.

Built-in image formatting. An image workflow lets you prepare visuals in Original, square, portrait, and landscape formats before publishing. This helps content fit the expectations of different social platforms without leaving WordPress.

Connection management per network. Each network has its own setup screen with guided steps, OAuth actions, a connection test, and a disconnect control. Connected and disconnected states are shown clearly, so it is easy to see which networks are ready to receive posts.

Permanent publishing history. A dedicated History tab keeps destination-by-destination records that can be searched and filtered by network or status. Entries include links back to the WordPress source, account details, badges for media, AI use, and content source, provider results, and error details.

Sanitized logs. Logs capture provider messages for troubleshooting and can be read, copied, exported, or cleared from within WordPress. They are designed to avoid showing full tokens, secrets, authorization codes, passwords, or API keys.

How to Install Social Publisher by Calliope

Step 1: Install and activate. In the WordPress dashboard, go to Plugins > Add New Plugin, search for Social Publisher by Calliope, click Install Now, then Activate.

Step 2: Open the plugin dashboard. Go to Social Publisher in the WordPress admin menu to access its tabs.

Step 3: Connect your networks. Open Connections and configure each network you want to use, running the connection test or completing OAuth where the network requires it.

Step 4: Add a Gemini key if desired. Open Settings and enter a Gemini API key if you want to use the AI composer for titles, captions, or full posts; this step is optional.

Step 5: Publish your content. Open Publisher, write or generate your content, prepare any image, choose your connected destinations, and publish.

Step 6: Review the results. Check Logs and the History tab afterward to see provider responses and confirm each destination’s outcome.

Good to Know About Social Publisher by Calliope

According to the plugin’s FAQ, publishing to multiple selected networks logs a separate result per destination, so one provider’s failure does not obscure the others. The documentation notes that this release focuses on manual publishing alongside supported block editor publishing options, rather than scheduling future posts.

Provider credentials, OAuth tokens, and any saved Gemini API key are stored locally in the site’s WordPress database, and logs are sanitized to avoid exposing full secrets. The developer also notes that deleting the plugin keeps saved data by default, unless a cleanup option is enabled in Settings beforehand, and that external services are only contacted when an administrator configures, tests, or uses a given connection.
