Digitalindo MCP for Claude AI connects Claude to a WordPress site through the Model Context Protocol, an open standard from Anthropic for linking AI models to external tools.
It is built for site owners, content teams, and agencies who want to manage posts, SEO fields, and media by giving Claude plain-language instructions rather than working through the WordPress dashboard by hand.
The plugin exposes a WordPress site as an MCP server that Claude can read from and write to directly. It works with Claude on the web, with Claude Code from the command line, and with other MCP-compatible clients, and it requires a Claude Pro or Team account, or the Claude Code CLI, since the plugin itself does not provide the AI model.
After activation, the plugin generates an API key and connection URL from its settings page, which gets pasted into Claude as a custom connector; from that point, results of Claude’s actions appear as real posts, terms, and media inside the WordPress site.

Key Features of Digitalindo MCP for Claude AI
Post creation and updates. Claude can create new posts with a title, content, excerpt, and status, or update existing posts by their ID. It can also retrieve post details, list all posts, and work with custom post types registered on the site.
Post status control. Posts can be set to draft, published, pending, or private through Claude’s instructions. This lets a site owner manage an editorial workflow without opening each post individually.
SEO meta automation. The plugin sets meta titles, meta descriptions, focus keywords, and canonical URLs for Yoast SEO or Rank Math, and falls back to standard WordPress meta fields when neither plugin is active. It can also generate SEO-friendly slugs and apply SEO titles and descriptions to categories, tags, and other taxonomy terms.
Content organization. Claude can create and assign categories and tags, manage custom taxonomies, and set featured images from a URL or from the existing media library. This keeps content properly categorized without manual tagging in the editor.
Media library management. Images can be uploaded to the media library and listed through Claude, with support for setting featured images on posts directly from a command.
Stock photo search and import. Claude can search and import free stock photos from Pixabay and Unsplash once a free API key from either service is added on the settings page. Only the search keyword is sent to these providers, not any site content or credentials.
Slug and permalink control. Custom slugs can be set on any post or page, and the plugin can auto-suggest SEO-friendly slugs based on a post’s title.
Tool restrictions per site. Individual tools can be enabled or disabled from the settings page, so specific actions such as post deletion can be turned off or limited to drafts only. This gives a site owner control over exactly what Claude is permitted to do.

Good to Know About Digitalindo MCP for Claude AI
According to the plugin’s documentation, WordPress data is not sent to Anthropic or any third party by default: Claude connects directly to the site’s own REST API endpoint.
The only exception involves the optional stock photo tools, where a search keyword is sent to Pixabay or Unsplash if a free API key for one of those services is configured. The plugin requires the WordPress REST API to be enabled, which is the default, and Application Passwords support.
On multisite networks, each site needs its own separate API key. Compatible SEO plugins are Yoast SEO and Rank Math, with a fallback to standard WordPress meta fields when neither is active. No coding knowledge is needed, since setup happens entirely through the settings page.
