Flux AI Alt Text & Accessibility Audit by Flux Plugins

Updated 3 min read

Flux AI Alt Text & Accessibility Audit is built for WordPress site owners and agencies who want to close gaps in image alt text that hurt both search visibility and accessibility.

It scans the entire media library, flags images that are missing descriptions or have weak placeholder text, and lets you generate and apply better alt text in bulk rather than editing images one at a time.

The plugin connects to a vision-capable AI model from OpenAI, Google Gemini, or Anthropic Claude, chosen in its settings. To use this path you supply your own API key for the selected provider, and the provider may charge for the usage involved in analyzing images.

When you request generation, image data is sent to that provider so it can return a descriptive suggestion, which appears in the plugin’s Media tab for review before you apply it to the image.

Results and scan reports live inside a dedicated Compliance Dashboard in the WordPress admin, where coverage scores, risk categories, and bulk actions are all handled without leaving the dashboard.

Key Features of Flux AI Alt Text & Accessibility Audit by Flux Plugins

Compliance Dashboard. Run an on-demand scan of the media library to see a coverage score alongside a breakdown of images by risk, including missing, placeholder, duplicate, descriptive, and contextual alt text. Results can be filtered by category so you can focus on the images that need the most attention.

AI-generated alt text. Generate descriptive, context-aware alt text for images in bulk using a vision model from OpenAI, Google Gemini, or Anthropic Claude. Each suggestion can be reviewed and edited before it is applied to the image.

Context-aware descriptions. When available, the plugin uses surrounding post or product information to make generated descriptions more relevant to the page the image appears on.

WooCommerce product image support. Product images are detected automatically, and generated alt text can incorporate the product name and its attributes, making it useful for stores with large catalogs.

Bulk processing in batches. Images are processed in the background in batches, so large libraries with hundreds or thousands of images can be worked through without manually handling each one.

Mark images as decorative. Images that do not need descriptive text can be marked as decorative in line with WCAG guidance for non-text content, removing them from the list of outstanding issues.

Daily compliance scans. A scheduled scan can run automatically each day to keep the coverage score current. This scan runs locally on the site and does not send any image data to external vision APIs.

Automated alt text queueing. Images missing alt text can be queued for generation on a recurring schedule using background processing, so new uploads are kept covered without manual intervention once a provider API key is configured.

Good to Know About Flux AI Alt Text & Accessibility Audit by Flux Plugins

According to the plugin’s FAQ, each provider uses a single designated vision model, and the provider you select in Settings determines which one analyzes your images. The documentation notes that image data is sent to the chosen provider only when generation is explicitly requested, unless scheduled or upload-time generation is enabled, while daily compliance scans always run locally without contacting any external API.

It also clarifies that supported image formats include JPEG, PNG, GIF, WebP, AVIF, SVG, BMP, TIFF, and ICO, though the vision providers themselves typically accept only common formats like JPEG, PNG, GIF, and WebP. Usage and cost figures shown in the Overview tab are informational only and do not limit any functionality.
