Blurbwing is built for site owners and developers who want a steady stream of social post ideas without spending time scanning news feeds. It watches the RSS feeds behind topics you pick, and once a day it drafts short, platform-specific posts about the items most worth sharing.
Rather than sounding like a brand account, the writing style reads like a working developer pointing out something interesting, and every draft comes with a link back to its source.
The plugin relies on the AI client built into WordPress itself rather than bundling its own provider. You connect a provider once under Settings > Connectors, using an official AI Provider plugin for Anthropic, Google or OpenAI, and Blurbwing simply expresses a model preference and works with whatever comes back.
It stores no API keys of its own. Drafts appear in wp-admin as a private post type, where you can read, edit and copy each one before deciding whether and where to share it.

Key Features of Blurbwing
Topic-based news sources. Choose from curated topic presets such as Web Development, WordPress, AI and ML, Design, Marketing or Startups, or add custom RSS feeds of your own. Only the feeds behind the topics you select are ever fetched.
Platform-tailored drafts. Blurbwing writes a separate draft for each platform you select, among LinkedIn, X, Instagram, Facebook and Threads, matching that platform’s typical length and hashtag style. Each draft appears with a live character count against the platform’s limit.
Post-worthiness ranking. Before writing full drafts, a ranking pass evaluates incoming news items and picks out the ones most worth turning into a post. This keeps token spending focused on the more relevant stories instead of every item in a feed.
Daily schedule with manual run. Set a daily run time in your site’s timezone and let Blurbwing draft posts automatically, or trigger a run immediately with the Run now button whenever you want fresh drafts right away.
Review-first draft editor. Every draft lands in a private post type in wp-admin, complete with its source link, a first-comment field and a card-text line, ready for you to edit and copy rather than being posted automatically.
Token budget cap. A daily token budget stops a run once it is reached, protecting you from unexpectedly high provider usage if the schedule or topic list is misconfigured.
Run log with usage details. A log records token usage for each run along with which model and provider answered, giving you visibility into how the AI connection is being used over time.
How to Install Blurbwing
Step 1: Install the plugin. From your dashboard, go to Plugins > Add New Plugin, search for Blurbwing, then click Install Now followed by Activate.
Step 2: Connect an AI provider. Install and configure an official AI Provider plugin for Anthropic, Google or OpenAI under Settings > Connectors, since Blurbwing has no provider code of its own.
Step 3: Choose topics and platforms. Open Blurbwing > Settings and select the news topics or custom feeds you want covered, along with the social platforms you want drafts written for.
Step 4: Set a schedule and budget. In the same settings screen, pick a daily run time in your site’s timezone and set a daily token budget, then save your changes.
Step 5: Review your drafts. Use the Run now button to generate drafts immediately, or wait for the scheduled run, then open the draft list in wp-admin to edit and copy the results.
Good to Know About Blurbwing
The developer notes that Blurbwing never stores or logs an API key itself, since keys are managed by WordPress core through the connected provider plugin. Because the plugin relies on WP-Cron, scheduled runs may fire late on low-traffic sites, and the settings screen shows a system-cron command for sites that disable WP-Cron; the Run now button is available as a manual alternative.
The AI receives only a headline, publisher name, short summary and URL for each candidate item, and is instructed to write original commentary rather than reproduce article text, with every draft linking back to its source.
According to the documentation, Blurbwing does not publish to any social network on its own; it only produces drafts for you to copy and post manually.
